There is hardly a more precious, sacred event in Christian history than the virgin birth of Christ Jesus. Isaiah foretold the coming of the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus. And, it is this peace of the Christ that is so needed in our world today. The continuing news reports of turmoil & conflict suggest an urgent need for people all over the world to join together in dedicated prayer for resolution to these conflicts. This prayer, acknowledging God as All and recognizing all men as being God’s children, can give comfort and peace not only to those in the midst of the conflict, but to all of us, who might be tempted to be fearful or anxious about the world’s condition.
If you look at Jesus’ life, you won’t find fear or acceptance of terrorism. You will find a strong spiritual power at work to deny hatred, rebuke calamity, and to restore calm and peace. His crucifixion and resurrection proved that human hatred had no power over the divine power. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, we read that “Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you.” Let us pray “on earth peace, good will toward men.”
